The Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) this week has made a decision to close the office to the public and is encouraging property owners and agents to communicate over the phone or by e-mail. Below is the full memo from the Appraisal District:

In an abundance of caution and in the best interest of our property owners and employees, we have decided to suspend services to the public inside the HCAD office starting on Wednesday, March 18.

Employees will still be working so we encourage you to take advantage of our online services such as filing a protest using iFile or settling your protest using iSettle.  To use these services, simply create an owner account.

If you need to file a form, you may use the fillable forms online and mail them to us using the address listed on the form.  If you must bring something to the appraisal district, there will be a drop-off location at the front (Hwy. 290) entrance to the building at 13013 Northwest Freeway.

Our telephone information center is available at 713.957.7800 for account questions, or you can email questions or forms to HELP@HCAD.org.

The appraisal district has postponed all its public workshops until further notice.
