In a move that follows the Harris County Appraisal District extension, the Travis Central Appraisal District (city of Austin, Texas) is granting a 30-day extension on the property tax filing that is typically due on April 15.

“COVID-19 is forcing property owners to make quick decisions to protect their families and their businesses. Because we know that filing a rendition may not be a priority right now, I am extending the deadline to file renditions to May 15,” said Chief Appraiser Marya Crigler.

By law, a chief appraiser can extend the rendition deadline by 30 days and the Travis Central Appraisal District has exercised that right.

Like many other appraisal districts across the state, TCAD’s office is currently closed to in-person transactions. However, the appraisal district has established several ways for property owners to continue to conduct TCAD-related business, including by email, phone, office dropbox, and online.

The Chief Appraiser added “We encourage all property owners to stay home as much as possible during this time. Downloadable forms and information on upcoming deadlines can be found on our website. Property owners needing assistance are encouraged to contact us by email or phone.”
